The most popular and well-respected English news channel in India up till 2016 was Times Now. Times Now is distributed by The Times Group through MNDIL, a joint venture between The Times Group and Yogesh Radhakrishnan, a well-known figure in the cable and satellite industry. The Times Group is the parent company of channels like Movies Now, ET Now, and Zoom. Prime Connect is the trade name used by Media Network and Distribution (India) Ltd (MNDIL).

WION

Leading international English-language news outlet WION (World is One News) has its main office in New Delhi. The Essel Group owns the channel and it is a member of the Zee Media network of networks.

In August 2015, Rohit Gandhi was appointed as the founder and the first editor-in-chief of WION by Zee Media to establish the channel. The website of WION was launched in many countries as a free-to-air satellite service on June 15, 2016. Later, on August 15, 2016, the channel began airing on television.

Previously NDTV was commissioned to provide supply news content to Star News, but as soon as the contract ended, Star was ready to renew it, but NDTV refused as they were not given full editorial control.
