Arvind Lal, who is 73 years old, has been bestowed with the honorary rank of Brigadier in the Indian Armed Forces. He holds this position along with being the chairman of a Rs 15,000 crore company.

Arvind Lal is a well-known Indian billionaire, pathologist, and medical administrator. He is the Executive Chairman of Dr. Lal PathLabs, a medical diagnostics chain, and owns a majority stake in the company. Dr. Lal PathLabs has a market capitalization of Rs. 15,000 crores. Arvind Lal is the son of SK Lal, who founded the company in 1949 in Delhi. After completing his medical studies, Arvind Lal joined his father’s business at the age of 28.

He is credited with modernizing medical diagnostics in India. He pioneered the first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in laboratory testing in the country. In addition to this, Arvind Lal also holds the honorary rank of Brigadier in the Indian Armed Forces, bestowed upon him by the Army.

As per Forbes, Arvind Lal’s net worth is currently USD 1.1 billion (approximately Rs 9,000 crore) as of April 11, 2023. He is currently ranked 2405 in the latest Forbes Billionaires list. In 2021, he was ranked 87 in the Forbes India Rich List.

Arvind Lal was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor, by the Indian government in 2009 for his contributions to Medicine. That same year, he was also bestowed with the honorary rank of Brigadier by the Armed Forces of India.

Arvind Lal completed his medical education at the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, including his postgraduate degree. He started his career there as a lecturer in the Department of Pathology. However, in 1977, he joined his family business and assumed control of Dr. Lal PathLabs.

Arvind Lal is married to Vandana Lal, who is also a pathologist. They have two children, Anjaneya Lal, and Archana Lal. Additionally, Arvind has authored a book titled “Corporate Yogi: My Journey as a Spiritual Seeker and an Accidental Entrepreneur”.
