After Prince Mukarram Jah, the last formal Nizam of Hyderabad, passed away in January 17, his son Mir Muhammad Azmat Ali Khan became the next Nizam of Hyderabad. However, the Indian government abolished titles in 1971, so he won’t be called Nizam IX. But Azmet Jah still manages Nizam Trusts at his father’s request along with other responsibilities.

Mir Mukkaram Jah took over as the successor to Mir Osman Ali Khan after his death in 1954. He was considered to be India’s wealthiest person until the 1980s.

Azmet Jah inherited the Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, which is a historic place. The British art auction house valued it at £10 million. The Taj Group of hotels took a lease on the property in 2000 and paid the Nizam an annual lease of Rs 1 crore, according to the Times of India.

According to The Times of India, Azmet Jah inherited the biggest gold coin ever made, which weighs 12 kg. His father, Mukarram Jah, was paid a small amount of $22 million (Rs 2.2 crore) by the government for the jewel in 2002, as reported by The Wire.
