Who is Baba Kalyani?

Baba Kalyani is a famous Indian billionaire. His name is Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, and he is 74 years old. Kalyani is the chairman and managing director of Bharat Forge, a company that makes forgings. This company is the main one in the Kalyani Group, which is also run by Kalyani.

Baba Kalyani’s father started Bharat Forge in 1966. It was the first company owned by the Kalyani Group, which has a revenue of $3 billion. Today, Bharat Forge is the Group’s most important company, with a market capitalization of Rs 36,300 crore.

Baba Kalyani was born in 1949 to Sulochana and Neelkanth Kalyani, who was an industrialist in Pune. He completed his Mechanical Engineering degree with honours from the well-known Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani in 1970.

In 1972, Baba Kalyani completed his Master of Science (MS) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA. After that, he joined Bharat Forge in the same year.

As of April 22, 2023, Baba Kalyani’s net worth is $2.4 billion (Rs 19,680 crore) according to Forbes. He is ranked 1217th in the magazine’s list of billionaires for 2023. In 2022, he was ranked 79th in India’s richest list.

Kalyani got the Padma Bhushan award in 2008 for his work in Trade and Industry. He also owns a football team called Bharat FC. Kalyani’s wife, Sunita B Kalyani, is a director of Kalyani Steels Ltd. Their son, Amit, is also part of the family business.
