The CEO of Barclays, CS Venkatakrishnan, who was born in India, will resume his duties after taking a few months off to receive cancer treatment while working remotely from home. Following his announcement of return, he shared with various media outlets his preference for working from the office, citing an increase in productivity and positive impact on his mindset. He expressed his happiness to be back in the office environment.
While undergoing treatment, CS Venkatakrishnan worked from home and acknowledged the benefits of working from an office setting. Nevertheless, he recognizes the advantages of hybrid work and has no intentions of abandoning it.
CS Venkatakrishnan’s complete name is Coimbatore Sundararajan Venkatakrishnan. He became a member of Barclays in November 2021 and relocated to London from the United States.
CS Venkatakrishnan was born in Mysore in 1966. He completed his entire engineering education, including a bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

CS Venkatakrishnan worked at JPMorgan Chase, one of the largest American financial institutions, from 1994 to 2016, during which he held several high-level positions. He then joined Barclays in 2016 and served as the chief risk officer.
In 2021, CS Venkatakrishnan took over as the CEO of Barclays, succeeding Jes Staley in the role.
In 2022, CS Venkatakrishnan was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While undergoing treatment, he continued to lead the bank from his home.
CS Venkatakrishnan’s next step is to resume traveling.
In the financial year 2022, CS Venkatakrishnan earned £5.2 million, which included a £1.9 million bonus. His salary was 101 times more than the average employee at Barclays. In Indian currency, this amount is approximately Rs 53 crore and 86 lakh, and his per-day salary is over Rs 17 lakh.
