Dennis Maliq Barnes, a student from Louisiana, said that his intention when he started the application process in August 2022 was not to get accepted into as many universities as he did.
The transition from high school graduation to college acceptance could be challenging. Many students have trouble falling asleep at night because they worry about being accepted to their “dream college.”
Meet Dennis Maliq Barnes, who has no such worries, on the other hand. The Louisiana high school senior, 16, has received acceptance letters from at least 170 institutions. The adolescent has also been offered $9 million in scholarships. To put it bluntly, this is without a doubt above and above any.
Barnes started applying to universities in August 2022 with the intention of applying to as many as he could; he wasn’t worried about being admitted. He told CNN that he applied to over 200 colleges.

“As I applied to more schools, as my numbers went up, with the financial aid and acceptances into universities, I became intrigued,” Barnes said in an interview with CNN. He said, “Once I hit that amount, it wasn’t really a surprise to me.
Due to Barnes’ accomplishment of setting a new record, the school administration has been in touch with the Guinness Book of World Records. Barnes has a 4.98 GPA and is graduating two years early.
The school administration was pleased with Barnes’ feat, and, according to a statement released by Clark Castle, a spokesperson for both the school and Barnes, they allegedly called the Guinness Book of World Records to “make it official.”
No matter what you do, Barnes added, “you are definitely going to be successful if you keep your school, your education, and God in the mix.”
