Nayar is an alumna of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She began her career as a management consultant with AF Ferguson and Co. She also worked for 19 years in various roles, including the role of Managing Director, at the Kotak Mahindra Group.

Falguni Nayar started Nykaa at the age of 50 with no prior experience as an entrepreneur. The company was initially funded by Nayar and her husband, Sanjay Nayar, for the first two years. In 2021, Nykaa went public and was listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). During the listing, Nayar expressed her hope that the journey of Nykaa would inspire others to pursue their own dreams and become the “Nykaa” of their lives.
