Harshit Narang gave up his well-paid job to pursue a career as an IAS officer.

Harshit Narang, who became an IAS officer, cracked the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2018. Prior to that, in 2010, he had taken up a job as an investment banker. Initially, his dream was to join the Indian army. Later, in 2012, he started preparing for the UPSC exam.

After preparing for two years in Rajendra Nagar, he successfully passed the Punjab Civil Services Examination in 2014 and became an Excise Officer.

Coming from a humble background in Patiala, his father ran a shop while his mother provided tuition classes to young children.

Despite becoming an excise officer in the Punjab government, Harshit Narang persisted with his studies and eventually passed the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2018. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of PIB Chandigarh and also provides online coaching to UPSC aspirants and other students.
