Hussain Sajwani began his career in the finance department of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries in 1981. However, he discovered his interest in the catering sector and started his own venture, which catered to clients such as the US military and Bechtel. In 2002, he founded DAMAC Properties, which is now one of the largest property development companies in the Middle East. Since its establishment, DAMAC Properties has reportedly delivered around 27,400 homes. The company also launched its hospitality division in 2011.

In 2022, Hussain Sajwani acquired De Grisogono and announced two collaborative development projects in Dubai.
