The journey to crack the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services exam is no easy feat, requiring immense effort and hard work. Aspirants have to devote hours of rigorous study to become eligible for the coveted IAS, IFS, and IPS positions. Every year, lakhs of applicants vie for these roles, but only a handful manage to clear the three stages of the high-profile exam – prelims, mains, and interviews.

While some UPSC CSE candidates struggle to clear the exam even after multiple attempts, there are a few who have cleared it several times to achieve their goal of becoming an IAS officer. IAS officer Ravi Sihag, belonging to the Madhya Pradesh cadre, achieved AIR 18 in the UPSC CSE 2021 exam in his fourth attempt, becoming the Hindi medium topper. Prior to this, he had cleared the exam twice in 2018 (ranked 337th) and 2019 (ranked 317th), securing the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) and Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) respectively.

Despite clearing the UPSC exam twice, Ravi Sihag’s dream was to become an IAS officer. After failing to clear the UPSC prelims on his third attempt, he decided to continue his preparation. His perseverance paid off in his fourth attempt in 2021 when he successfully cracked the exam with AIR 18 and achieved his goal of becoming an IAS officer.

Ravi Kumar Sihag, the successful UPSC candidate, hails from Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan and comes from a farming background. Before he began his UPSC preparations, Ravi used to assist his father with agricultural work. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Sharda College in Anupgarh.
