Lucas Helmke dedicated two to three years of training to break the Guinness World Record previously held by another Australian since April 2022.

Lucas Helmke, a resident of Brisbane, Australia, has recently set a new world record for the most push-ups performed in one hour. Push-ups are considered to be one of the most challenging exercises, even for regular gym-goers. Lucas trained for two to three years to break the previous record, which was set by another Australian in April 2022.

Lucas Helmke, a 33-year-old man from Brisbane, Australia, has broken the Guinness World Record for the most push-ups performed in one hour. According to GWR, he completed 3,206 push-ups in the given time, averaging over 53 push-ups per minute. Lucas trained for two to three years to achieve this feat, and he attempted to inspire his one-year-old son and show him that anything is possible.

The previous world record for most push-ups in an hour was held by Daniel Scali, also from Australia, who completed 3,182 push-ups in April 2022. Lucas Helmke aimed to break this record by breaking the push-ups down into 30-second sets, with a target of 26 push-ups in each set. During the attempt, Lucas slightly exceeded his target by achieving an average rate of 26.7 push-ups every 30 seconds. The official attempt took place at Iron Underground, Lucas’s old powerlifting gym in Brisbane.

Lucas Helmke was able to maintain proper form for the majority of his push-ups during his record-breaking attempt. Out of the 3,206 push-ups he completed, only 34 (1%) were disqualified due to improper form, which is a remarkable achievement considering his fast pace in order to break the record.

Lucas expressed his intention to continue setting records annually, aiming to break at least one every year. He stated, “This will be my first record, and I have a few more push-up records I want to set, and then I will move on to other physical records.”
