The UP Police’s Special Task Force shot Asad Ahmed, the son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, who was wanted in the murder case of Umesh Pal. The Atiq Ahmed family had a feud with Pal.

Asad and Ghulam were both killed in a police encounter in Jhansi. Asad had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on him for his involvement in criminal activities.

The incident reported that Asad, the son of former gangster and politician Atiq Ahmed, and Ghulam, the son of Maksudan, were killed in an encounter with the UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal in Jhansi. Both were wanted in the murder case of Umesh Pal and had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each. The police also recovered sophisticated foreign-made weapons.

Navendu Kumar Naveen and Vimal Kumar Singh are both officers of the UP Special Task Force. Navendu is a deputy superintendent of police from Bihar’s Saran. He joined the special task force in 2018 and has been involved in several encounters, having even sustained bullet injuries in the past. He has received two bravery medals – the President’s Bravery Medal in 2008 and the National Bravery Medal in 2014 – as reported by India TV. Vimal Kumar Singh, also a DSP in the UP STF, is a UP cadre officer hailing from Jaunpur and is currently posted in Lucknow.

Navendu Kumar Naveen was promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police in February 2018. His father’s name is Bholanath Rai, and he hails from Bihar’s Saran.

Vimal Kumar Singh, on the other hand, was born in 1970 and his father’s name is Ram Pyare Singh. He is also a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the UP STF and was promoted to the rank in 2019. He is a UP cadre officer and is currently posted in Lucknow.

In February, Umesh Pal, a lawyer in Prayagraj who was a witness to the murder of Raju Pal in 2005, was killed outside his house. During the encounter, two policemen were also killed.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, congratulated the UP STF for their action, stating that the killers of Umesh Pal and the policemen deserved the consequences.
