Parimal Nathwani is known to be a close friend and confidant of Mukesh Ambani. Since 2008, he has served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. Initially, he was an independent candidate from Jharkhand for his first two terms in the upper house of Parliament. However, in 2020, he became a Rajya Sabha MP representing the YSR Congress.
Born on February 1, 1956, in Mumbai, Parimal Nathwani began his career as a trainee in a mill located in Matunga. Later on, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Vadodara Stock Exchange before joining the Ambani family in the mid-1990s.
Parimal Nathwani forged a strong bond with the Ambani family after playing a pivotal role in establishing the Reliance refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat. He is widely acknowledged for his instrumental role in facilitating peaceful land acquisition in Jamnagar. Moreover, he spearheaded various significant projects for Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in the western region of India, encompassing initiatives such as petrol pumps, retail operations, gas pipelines, and the revolutionary Jio network. Notably, Parimal Nathwani’s mentor was Dhirubhai Ambani, the father of Mukesh Ambani.

Parimal Nathwani pursued his undergraduate studies at Mumbai University before completing a doctorate in management from the National Institute of Management. Following his academic pursuits, he ventured into the soap agency business in Mumbai, an endeavor he candidly describes as a misfortune due to its lack of success.
Parimal Nathwani played a pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition of 10,000 acres of land for the Ambani family. This land served as the foundation for the establishment of the world’s largest refinery, which commenced operations in 1999.
Due to his significant contributions, Parimal Nathwani became the prominent representative and public face of the Mukesh Ambani company in Gujarat. Recognizing his capabilities, he was subsequently relocated to Ahmedabad, where he was entrusted with additional responsibilities, further solidifying his position within the organization.
According to his 2020 election affidavit, Parimal Nathwani declared assets amounting to Rs 396 crore. This included bank deposits totaling Rs 2.37 crore, as well as bonds, debentures, and shares valued at Rs 179 crore.
Furthermore, Parimal Nathwani’s son, Dhanraj Nathwani, holds the position of Group President at Reliance Industries. Notably, Dhanraj Nathwani shares a close friendship with Isha, Anant, and Akash Ambani, further cementing their bond.
