After Jet Airways ceased operations in 2019, Sanjiv Kapoor, who was supposed to be its CEO, stepped down from the company.

An insider source has confirmed that Sanjiv Kapoor, who was designated as CEO of Jet Airways, has resigned from the grounded airline.

Having taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer in April of the previous year, Kapoor’s last day at the airline was confirmed by the source as Friday.

At the time of writing, Kapoor had not provided a statement. Jet Airways ceased operations in April 2019 and subsequently underwent insolvency proceedings.”

Despite being the winning bidder for the once-renowned carrier under insolvency resolution, the Jalan Kalrock consortium’s ownership transfer of the airline faced obstacles due to ongoing disagreements with lenders.

Reflecting on his time with Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC), Sanjiv Kapoor stated, “It was an honor to be part of the incredible team that made history by reviving Jet Airways, one of India’s most beloved airlines over the last 25 years. It was not just any airline we sought to revive, and I am proud of what we accomplished together.”

Ankit Jalan, a member of the board of Jalan Kalrock Consortium, stated, “Sanjiv Kapoor joined us in April 2022 to lead the revival of Jet Airways, overseeing the business and launch plan for the airline’s commercial operations. We are grateful for his contributions to Jet Airways’ launch and wish him success in his future endeavors.”

According to reports, Sanjiv Kapoor has a net worth of Rs 10 crore as of 2022. He was at Vistara and played a major role as its Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer in 2016. He has been associated with budget carriers SpiceJet and GoAir. Kapoor is currently the president of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts.
