He is interested in many things like phone service, space, insurance, property, hotels, and food. The biggest phone service provider in India is Bharti Airtel, which is a very important part of Bharti Enterprises.
Forbes said that in 2023, Sunil Bharti Mittal was the 10th richest person in India. They think he has about $14.8 billion, which is about Rs 14,800,000,000.
Sunil Mittal’s family has been involved in politics. His father, Sat Paul Mittal, was a member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha. Sunil went to Punjab University and got a degree in both Arts and Science. When he was 18 years old, he started his own business with Rs 20,000 that he borrowed from his father. He made crankshafts for bicycle makers in his area and became very successful. Now he is very rich.

Later on, he began working in different fields. In 1980, he and his brothers started a company called Bharti Overseas Trading Company to bring things into India from other countries. He also got a deal to sell Japanese electric generators made by Suzuki Motors.
After that, in 1984, Sunil started making phones with push buttons in India. He also started a company called Bharti Telecom Ltd. Around 1992, the government asked people to apply for a chance to make mobile phone networks in India. Sunil put in an application and won one of the four licenses that were available.
Sunil started giving phone service and made the name Airtel by working with big companies from other countries. It was a new thing for a private company to do so much in the phone business, and it was very different from what people had done before.
Sunil made sure that Bharti Airtel became very big. It is now the biggest phone service provider in India and the second-biggest in Africa.
In 2007, Sunil got a special honor called the Padma Bhushan. He has also had many important jobs in groups from other countries, like being in charge of the International Chamber of Commerce. Sunil is known for being a humble person who cares a lot about helping people who are not as strong as others. Because of this, people think of him as someone who gives a lot of money to good causes.
