In 1986, Mallika embarked on her professional journey by joining the family business, which was established by the renowned late industrialist S. Anantharamakrishnan. Anantharamakrishnan is credited with playing a significant role in transforming Chennai into the “Detroit of India.”

As Mallika advanced in her career, she initiated a significant technology-driven transformation at TAFE. Through her leadership, the 64-year-old propelled the company to achieve the remarkable feat of becoming the world’s third-largest tractor manufacturer, with a turnover surpassing Rs 10,000 crore.

Under Mallika’s visionary leadership, TAFE made significant strategic acquisitions. In 2022, the company sealed a substantial Rs 400 crore deal to acquire the Indian business of Faurecia, a renowned French firm. Additionally, in 2018, TAFE acquired the iconic Serbian tractor brand, Industrija Masina i Traktora (IMT). To further strengthen TAFE’s capabilities, Mallika forged a joint venture with the prominent US agro-equipment giant, AGCO. Together, they successfully market the widely popular Massey Ferguson tractors. Mallika’s astute decision-making and business acumen have propelled TAFE to new heights in the industry.

As an esteemed industrialist, Mallika Srinivasan holds prominent positions on various esteemed boards. She serves on the Governing Board of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chennai, the Executive Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad, and prestigious corporations such as AGCO, Tata Steel, and Tata Global Beverages. Adding to her illustrious portfolio, Mallika was recently appointed to the board of directors for the billion-dollar startup Swiggy. Her extensive board memberships reflect her expertise and influence across multiple sectors.
