Rohit Sardana shared his journey from a middle-class Hindu family. There are no details available regarding his family. Rohit’s parents’ names remain unknown, and only known siblings are believed to be computer engineers. Rohit’s upbringing is significantly less known. Rohit Sardana shared a dream to reach the Television sets of ordinary people from the beginning of his childhood. He was outstanding at Drama and acting. Later, he decided to make a career in Journalism.

Rohit Sardana had a keen interest in Drama and acting from childhood. He wanted to pursue his career in the drama, serial and movie industries. He also did some theatre in 1997;later, to pursue his dreams, he enrolled himself in Delhi’s National School of Drama(NSD), but he did not like the lifestyle and culture of that drama school. Rohit left the National School of Drama on the 3rd day of a seven days workshop.

Career as an Anchor and Journalist

Rohit’s dream to appear on the Television screen stayed alive even after his fiasco in drama school. Later, he decided to make a career in journalism. While pursuing his master’s in Mass Communication, he used to write columns for local newspapers, which helped Rohit to swell his portfolios for various portfolios.

While pursuing Mass Communication, he shared one incident in a Ted talk that once his professor asked all the students in class, “Why did they want to make a career in journalism?” He said all the students had replied that they wanted to bring change into society, which was their purpose for joining Journalism. Later when the professor asked him, he replied, ” I want to appear on Television”, even though he appreciated the truth. Later, when one of his professors looked at his portfolio, he said, ‘Boy, you already know what you will be going to teach here, so instead of wasting your time here, you should go and work’.

Later he gave auditions in Akashwani, and he got selected. So he worked for Akashwani from 2-11 PM and did the job there for 1.5 years.

Rohit later moved to Delhi and did an internship for ETV Network, where he was offered a job later even though he had his final semesters left, yet he accepted it. After a month, he was transferred to Hyderabad after a month, and they said they would shape him to be a good anchor there.

When he reached Hyderabad and got selected there, he faced a problem with language as he had the Haryanvi dialect in his Hindi. Later he worked hard to brush up on his Hindi and English. Rohit also worked as a video toaster editor after being trained by a Japanese team for six months.

In the meantime, while he started his career as an Anchor in Journalism, Gujarat assembly elections had to take plac. He was assigned to cover that election as an Anchor for ETV in the Gujarati language, for which he had to learn Gujarati. Rohit worked with Sahara Samay between the years 2003 to 2004 as an assistant producer.

Rohit joined Zee News in 2004, and he worked there for 13 years as an anchor. He also got much appreciation for his job. Rohit hosted a program ‘Taal Thok Ke’ for Zee News, which raises questions on general public issues.

Rohit Sardana was one of India’s most popular anchors/ reporters in the shows. He hosted some of the famous News programs hosted ‘Taal Thok Ke’ for Zee News, where he used to raise common public questions. He also hosted ‘Dangal’ for AajTak, where he was an anchor panelist and debated with politicians and others over important issues. Rohit was also corona positive and he conveyed this news to his fellow news Journalist on 24th of April 2021, he was recuperating from it, but he did not recover from it, but on 30th April 2021 morning his health started to deteriorate and he was admitted to intensive care Care Unit, yet he got passed away at 11 AM.
