Anu Hasan was born on 15th July 1970 (Age: 53 years) she comes from the very famous and well-known Hasan Family, and she is the niece of the legendary film actor Mr. Kamal Haasan. Just like her family members Anu also is a very popular personality, she has featured in some of the most well-known, loved, and critically acclaimed movies, and along with that, she has also made a mark in the Tamil television industry with her talk shows like Coffee with Anu and her TV series.

She was born in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, and is currently residing in Chennai.

Anu attended St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School in Trichy before pursuing her MSc degree in Physics and Management at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in Pilani, Rajasthan. Apart from her acting career, 

Anu is also trained in martial arts and was a basketball player who represented the Trichy district. She is also passionate about music and is a talented jazz singer. In addition, she has a keen interest in costume design.

Anu Hasan made her debut in movies in 1995 with the Tamil movie “Indira”, directed by Suhasini Maniratnam who is her cousin. In the film, she played the lead role alongside Arvind Swamy, Radharavi, and Nassar. “Indira” won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and its song “Nila Kaigirathu” became very popular.

Anu Hasan had a brief appearance as the mother of her uncle Kamal Haasan in the 2001 movie “Aalavandhan”. She then portrayed the character of R. Madhavan’s sister in the Tamil blockbuster “Run” (2002), directed by N. Linguswamy. Her performance in the movie was lauded and she received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Anu also played a supporting role in the comedy film “Nala Damayanthi”, which was written and produced by Kamal Hassan.

Anu Hasan portrayed the character of Ajith Kumar’s sister in the 2003 film “Anjaneya”. She had a special appearance in the award-winning movie “Santosh Subramaniam”, featuring Jayam Ravi and Genelia D’Souza in lead roles. Anu also made cameo appearances in “Sarvam” and “Aadhavan”, and played the role of Varun Sandesh’s sister-in-law in her Telugu debut film, “Evaraina Epudaina”.

Anu Hasan played supporting roles in various films including “Maanja Velu” where she portrayed the role of Karthik Muthuraman’s wife, and “Irandu Mugam” where she played the role of Sathyaraj’s wife. She also appeared in the National Award-winning English short film “Red Building where the Sun Sets” directed by veteran actress Revathi. Anu played a supporting role in the 2014 Telugu psychological thriller film “1: Nenokkadine”, which featured Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon in lead roles.

Anu has also been involved in other projects such as the Tamil action film “Valla Desam” and her Hollywood debut in director Joe Scott’s “Is This Now”. In 2012, she acted in the Telugu film “Endukante… Premanta!” alongside Ram and Tamannaah. In 2013, she starred in the Malayalam film “Kunthapura” as the lead actress, co-starring Charu Hassan, Biyon, and Priya Lal.

Anu Hasan embarked on her television journey in the year 2000, with her debut in the series “Anbulla Snehgidhiye”, inspired by the acclaimed novel “Sister of My Heart” by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. She subsequently appeared in several other television series, including “Avan Aval Avargal”, “Vivahita” (Malayalam), and “Ammaavukku Rendula Raagu”. Later, Anu donned the hat of a talk show host, helming the immensely popular “Koffee with Anu” on STAR Vijay, which continued for more than four years and established her as a well-recognized personality in Tamil Nadu.

In 2014, Anu joined the Ask How India social movement and created a series of videos addressing various social issues. In addition to her work as an actress and anchor, she also worked as a dubbing artist, lending her voice to actresses who were not proficient in Tamil, including Geetu Mohandas, Raveena Tandon, and Preity Zinta.
