In 2016, Ashvini Jakhar founded Prozo with a team of only four interns as his first employees.
Prior to founding Prozo, Ashvini Jakhar served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the Indian Navy, where he worked as a medical doctor. He now runs a large supply chain company under the same name, Prozo. Earlier this year, the company unveiled an automated storage system at its Bengaluru centre, capable of automatically storing and retrieving items from multiple storage locations.
The new automated storage system launched by Prozo earlier this year is designed to optimize space within warehouses, which is a major advantage for third-party logistics companies. According to reports from ET, the system is capable of storing around 100,000 units and can handle placing and retrieving 35kg weights up to 300 times per hour.
Since founding Prozo in 2016, Ashvini Jakhar has grown the company into a major operation with over 1,500 employees. The company has around 100 clients, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations, including Tata Consumer, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance, and Pepe Jeans, according to reports.
The company was founded in 2014 as an e-commerce platform but subsequently shifted its focus to become a platform similar to Prozo.
Jakhar was born in a village located in the state of Haryana. His family members had a background in the armed forces, which inspired him to pursue a career in the same field. He successfully passed the National Defence Academy and AFMC medical exams and went on to become a doctor in the Navy.
He was a member of the team involved in the rescue operation carried out in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Additionally, he led the medical evacuation operation during the Mumbai terror attack. These experiences provided him with valuable insight into the logistical challenges that such operations can entail.
Subsequently, he obtained his MBA from the renowned Indian School of Business (ISB).
The decision to leave the Navy was made.
He was employed as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company, where he worked for a period of two years.
According to ET, he founded Prozo in 2016.
In an interview with the newspaper, he stated that the company’s warehousing division experienced a staggering growth rate of 1200% over the last year. He also expressed his goal of achieving a revenue of Rs 350 crore by the end of the current financial year.
To date, the company has secured Rs 131 crore in funding. According to Tracxn, as of March 2022, the company’s valuation was estimated to be Rs 218 crore (equivalent to 27.6 million US dollars).
