Ramya Ravi: First and foremost, they have a mere 200 square feet area in Nagarabhavi, Bengaluru.

Ramya Ravi has fond memories of her grandmother’s done biryani, which she grew up eating. Unlike the popular Lucknow and Hyderabad variants, the Karnataka-style biryani was not widely known. Determined to share its unique taste with the world, Ramya decided to start her own biryani business. Despite launching amidst the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, her venture has achieved considerable success within a short period.

In 2020, she initiated the business with an initial capital of Rs 5 lakh. By the financial year 2021-22, the business had recorded a turnover of Rs 10 crore. The company primarily operates in Bengaluru, establishing a strong presence in the city.

Despite her family owning a chain of hotels, Ramya Ravi desired to venture into entrepreneurship and establish her own business.

Ramya Ravi, born in Bengaluru, has two sisters named Shweta and Raveena. She completed her schooling at The Valley School and later pursued a B.Com degree from Christ College in Bengaluru.

In 2022, during an interview with Global Indian, Ramya mentioned that her father consistently fostered an entrepreneurial spirit within her and her sisters. In order to enhance her business acumen, she also undertook a short-term management course at Harvard University.

Ramya had the opportunity to observe and learn from her father’s work, gaining valuable insights and knowledge. She also had the chance to collaborate with her father, R Ravichandar, on various projects.

However, Ramya had her own aspirations to establish a company of her own. Thus, she founded her own venture named RNR Biryani, an acronym derived from the initials of her father and grandfather’s names as a heartfelt tribute to them.

To start off, they had a modest 200 square feet space in Nagarabhavi, Bengaluru, and initially operated with just one cook. However, their business experienced tremendous success, with 10,000 deliveries completed in their very first month. As the demand continued to surge, they expanded their operations by adding more kitchens. In late 2021, they further expanded their reach by opening a restaurant in Jayanagar, Bengaluru.

They enhance their charm by serving the food in tin boxes, adding a unique touch to the dining experience.

Ramya is also proficient in Bharatanatyam, having received training in this traditional Indian dance form.
