Randhir Thakur has been appointed as the CEO and MD of Tata Electronics, according to an announcement made by the company.

On Tuesday (April 18), Tata Electronics revealed the selection of Randhir Thakur as their new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Randhir Thakur brings with him up to 40 years of experience in worldwide manufacturing, research, and development, having previously held the position of President at Intel Foundry Services.

Randhir Thakur is a prominent and practical innovator in the semiconductor sector at a global level. With over five years of experience at Intel and has held several top technical positions at various companies like Applied Materials Inc., SanDisk Corp., STEAG Electronic Systems, and Micron Technology Inc. across the semiconductor industry.

In 2020, Tata Group launched Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL) as a new greenfield venture with a focus on manufacturing precision components. TEPL’s plans also encompass the semiconductor fabrication and packaging sectors, as reflected in their roadmap.

According to N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons, the future plans for Tata Electronics are promising, and Randhir Thakur’s extensive knowledge and multifaceted experience will be advantageous for the company. Chandrasekaran expressed confidence that under Thakur’s leadership, Tata Electronics will help India establish a prominent position in the global semiconductor and precision manufacturing industry.

As per the statement, Thakur has played a significant role in the advancement of cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.

The statement also highlighted Thakur’s extensive knowledge in ecosystem leadership, process technology equipment, driving mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and product development. It further noted that he has gained this expertise by closely collaborating with ecosystem partners and customers.
