Sambit Patra is an Indian politician and the National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He holds a degree in medicine from SCB Medical College, Cuttack.
He comes from an Odia family, he was born on December 13, 1974, in Bokaro Steel City, then part of Dhanbad. His father worked at the Bokaro Steel plant.
Prior to his plunge into politics, Dr. Patra served as a medical practitioner. In 2014, he contested for an MP seat from the Puri constituency but was unsuccessful. However, this did not deter him from joining the BJP and leveraging his professional background by becoming its national spokesperson shortly thereafter.
Due to his articulate debating skills on political issues, Dr. Patra has become one of India’s most well-known faces in politics today. He receives various invitations from news channels to engage in debates on contemporary issues such as economic reforms and advancements in agriculture policy.

Sambit Patra is a highly qualified Indian politician. Don’t let his tomfoolery and caricaturist behavior make you think otherwise. He holds an MBBS degree from V.S.S. Medical College and Hospital, Burla, Sambalpur, Odisha, in 1997. He also is a general surgeon, and he did his master’s in Surgery from S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, Utkal University in 2002.
Not only this, but he also cleared UPSC’s Combined Medical Services in 2003. After clearing that, he went on to work as a Medical Officer at Hindu Rao Hospital.

In one of the Aaj Tak Conclave, Sambit Patra stated that he had secured All India 19 rank in UPSC 2000.

Fact is no one named Sambit qualified in UPSC 2000 exam. Legal action to be initiated against Sh. Swaraj for falsely claiming on live TV.

Sambit Patra Director of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation)
Sambit Patra was appointed as an independent or Non-official Director of the ONGC. But as he was still a member of the ruling party and an official spokesperson was seen as a violation by an NGO Energy Watchdog.
They filed a PIL on the basis that what Patra was doing was in violation of the companies act. The PIL was then dismissed by the Delhi high court on the grounds that it was “Without Merit” and “Unsubstantiated”.
